INVITED REVIEW: Start the weekend with Liwan for Seafood Night every Thursday

Are you one of the Seafood lovers in town? I was thrilled to get this invitation for Liwan’s Seafood Night theme by Al Ghurair Rayhaan & Arjaan by Rotana last week. Not only that, it was my first time to visit Liwan. I’m usually dining-in in Shayan for several times now and because of that I’ve fallen in love with the food and staffs. But I was mesmerized when I entered Liwan.

Liwan is located nearby the main lobby on the 3rd floor. It’s very spacious restaurant not to mentioned the dining area also available in the balcony. Interior design was very elegant with a pleasant environment. I was attended by Berna and she was kind enough to show me around and explained to me briefly about the buffet.

Seafood is present in the Main Course like the Seafood Biryani and Sri Lankan Crab Curry, Live Grill for Prawns, Crabs and few kinds of fish like Tilapia & Red Mullet and on the Salad station where it looks like a fresh haul from the sea with the elegant sculptured iced Swan standing behind it.

On the buffet, there’s also a cold mezze section for International and Arabic one and you can make your own salad as well on one corner. There’s a bread and Sushi counter next to each other and some Anti Pasti too. This area is decorated with net emphasizing more the seafood concept.

You can find some Indian delicacies too like Samosa, Papadam, Hammour cooked in the oven and many others, Live Tandoori Roti and the dessert section right at the end of the restaurant.  During that day they got Ice cream station which is alternately changing every week with Crepe station. They have a separate beverage counter which is exposed nearby the entrance with some fresh fruits on display. We’ve tried the Lemon & Mint at first to freshen up and it is very refreshing indeed, then I tried one of the smoothies which is Strawberry flavour. It’s thick and creamy and served just the way I like it.

While hubby was indulging his own likeness from Arabic and Indian sides with our son, I went for the Sushi and the Seafood Biryani along with the Crab Curry. I also ordered for some grilled prawns and one Tilapia. Oh my gosh! I love the smell of the grilled prawns floating in the air when served to me. It was done perfect with a tender meat. The Tilapia was juicy and tasty! I didn’t expect it to be marinated but because of that, it added more flavour.

Back to hubby, he was claiming that the Samosa was heavy. Samosa (vegetable) were done in a bite size but he felt full right away and they taste amazing! I tried my best to capture the live tandoori roti as well. It was behind the Soup section. Chef made 2 pieces for me and it was made crispy and braised with butter.

There are lots of items to relish. This starts from 7pm-11.30pm every Thursday night. Great way to start the weekend with friends or together with family so take your time and try to achieve having a taste of each and every dishes prepared.
