INVITED REVIEW: First day of iftar in this 5 star hotel, JBR

First day of Ramadan and it was the first iftar that we opened in Horizon (all day dining restaurant) in Amwaj Rotana last May 27. Located in the busy community of JBR and the hotel is totally decorated for the spirit of Ramadan.

We sent our car for valet parking (free when dining in one of the restaurants) and went to 1st floor where Horizon is. On the entrance of the restaurant, there’s an area for a small majlis where anyone can seat and have some dates with qahwah (arabic coffee).

Upon entering the restaurant itself, a dedicated table for dates was placed just across the reception. Then the lavish buffet will start pulling you towards to it. There are wide range of dishes for each course of your meal that will tantalize your eyes thus making it an extensive buffet.

You may not notice that the restaurant is surprisingly massive to the point that the dessert area alone has it’s long buffet table showcasing mostly arabic desserts. Fresh fruits are also included here and even an Ice Cream station on the corner with several toppings to choose from.

During that night, I thought I will missed the Lamb OuziΒ  which is the main dish for all for iftar. As usual, our son is moving around so freely that while chasing him I bumped to the area it was placed! It’s on one side corner but off of the main buffet area. So better check it! Shawarma station is available in the main buffet.

They got several selections for Ramadan beverages and you will find Mustafa in condura moving around to serve qahwah on your table itself. Overall, it’s absolutely a must to visit for iftar with everyone else.
