Few months back a new branch of Famous Dave’s has been launched in Abu Dhabi as the second branch in the Emirate, in Al Wahda Mall this time. We love the barbeque here so much that we didn’t want to miss to have a look to their new dining place.
It was the 2nd day of EID celebration when we decided to go for a visit for lunch. The restaurant is located in the new extension of the mall on the 2nd floor. It was not that hard to find because by accident I found it when I went to look for the washroom first. So they were just on the opposite side.
Mr. Dheeraj, the Manager, was on the reception when we arrived and he happily lead us to our table. The layout of the restaurant is simple and straight which makes it easier to choose where you love to have a sit. The Patio area is having the view of the road. It’s standard in Famous Dave’s to introduce their award winning barbecue sauces to their customers. Famous Rasel did this part for us. The idea behind this is for you to know which of the sauces will suit you and recommended to use to a certain dish. She came with chips and an extra plate to squeeze samples of each while explaining and ended up with a smiley face.
For a change, since we know their recommended dishes by heart, we opted for the other dishes on the menu. We had salad this time, the Dave’s Sassy Barbecue salad with Texas Beef Brisket as the topping. There are 4 toppings available for this in total that you can choose from. It is served with crunchy lettuce, roasted sweetcorn, cheddar cheese, fresh tomatoes, crispy tortilla strips and tossed with spiced honey BBQ dressing. And yah, it was served with corn muffin which I think they have read my mind. I wanted to ask for this as a side dish but we chose already for the Lamb Rack.
Then we took one of the award winning ribs of Famous Dave’s which is the Smoked Rack of Lamb. It may look like big on the menu but yah it’s enough for 2-3 people. These ribs were slowly smoked for 3 hours and served with apricot-mint glaze. Moreover, there are 2 side dishes when you order this. Side dishes can be any of your choice. We took the mac and cheese and wedges for this for our little Hamza.
We looked over the Legendary Burgers also. We tried the Jacked-N-Stacked, it’s topped with Monterey Jack cheese and stacked with lots of crispy onion strings. The burger is with chicken breast and the stacked of onion strings makes the burger so tall with crispy and crunchy effect on each bites. Other than that, more onion strings on the side and some wedges.
We had Burnt Ends before but we still took it because as we were told they have a new version of it which they blended some onions and jalapenos with it to lessen the sweetness. This will be serve to you with onion strings and some pickled onions and jalapenos on the sides. Well, the sauce have a combined taste of the new ingredients mentioned and gives a little difference from the original one. However, for me sweetness still there.
For the drinks, we were served with the Berrylicious and Lime & Mint in a tower glass I may say. Their drinks never fails the flavor and really refreshing on this shooting high temperature.
To end the meal with the desserts, I begged for my favorite pudding and also tried the new Pecan Pie. And guess what? Pecan Pie has won over my palette. It’s now my favorite from this place.I would say the texture is like eating tarts when mixed altogether inside your mouth. It’s totally filled with pecans and the sauce is amazing!
Before grabbing the desserts, I met Chef Jean, again (the Brand Chef) which I firstly met in Riverland branch. I came to know from him that in this branch the Smokerhouse is visible to everyone. Anyone who passes by can look and if curious enough the only female Pitmaster in Famous Dave’s, Tasha, is ready to interact.
**Family-friendly place, have platters on the menu great for group meet-ups, smokerhouse on display
So which branch is your favorite so far?
